William Thomas Smith, Jr. slipped quietly into eternal rest on Thursday, July 31, 2003, at Mary Washington Hospital.
“Bubbie”, as he was known to everyone, was born on March 27, 1921 to the late William and Pearl Smith in Caroline County, Va. He attended school in Port Royal . Bubbie joined Shiloh Baptist Church in Port Royal, Va. at an early age and continued to worship there until his death. He worked as a forklift operator for more than 20 years at Keller Aluminum Plant in Milford, Va. before retiring. He will always be remembered for his love of hunting and dogs and telling a few good tales about the good old days.
Bubbie was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, uncle and brother. He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 60 years Mary Elizabeth of Ruther Glen, Virginia; two daughters, Brenda Walker of Adelphi, Maryland., Linda Smith of Richmond, Virginia.; one granddaughter, Tia Smith of Richmond, Virginia.; one brother, Durvell Smith of King George, Virginia; four sisters, Mary Brooks of King George, Virginia, Helen Howard of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Martha Barclay of Montpelier, Virginia and Rosie Clark of King George, Virginia; six brothers-in-law, Marion J. Brooks, Arthur Williams, Otis Smith, Rev. Thomas Barclay, Allen Baylor, Lewis Williams
and Raymond Clark; four sisters-in-law, Gertrude Smith, Hazel Smith, Raye Williams and Marian Williams; a devoted family friend, Gary Boone and a host of nieces and nephews.
