On September 26, 2015, William Edward Johnson affectionately known as "Edward" slipped into eternal rest surrounded by family at home. Edward was born on January 12, 1946 in Essex County, VA to the late William and Martha Johnson. He was the youngest brother of eight children.
Edward received his education in the public school system of Essex County.
On March 5, 1966, Edward married Dorothy Mae Byrd from this union they had one son. Edward and Dorothy Mae shared 49 marvelous years together.
Edward was employed by King George Public School, and Ingleside Plantation Nursery for many years. Edward worked until his health forced him to retire.
Edward enjoyed fishing, hunting, target shooting, watching wrestling, any type of western pictures, cooking and football. He was a diehard Redskins fan. He loved cooking fried chicken for the guys during target shooting. He especially loved cooking fried pork chops with gravy and fried potatoes for his daughter-in-law. He enjoyed spending time with the family and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife Dorothy Mae, one son William Byrd (Kathy), three sisters Gladys Carr of Williamstown, NJ, Dorothy Lee Mouzon (Daniel) of Salisbury, NC, and Emma Jane Davis of Colonial Beach, VA, one brother Leroy Johnson of Montross, VA, one grandson Donald Jackson (Erin) of Hagerstown, MD, three great-grand daughters, five sisters-in-law Rose Byrd of Colonial Beach, VA, Delores Johnson (James) of Temple Hills, MD and Renee LaPrade (Kenny) of Oxon Hill, MD, Pearl Johnson of Fredericksburg, VA and Polly Johnson of King George, VA, two brothers-in-law Levi Byrd of Arlington, VA and Daniel Byrd of Colonial Beach, VA and a host of nieces and nephews as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Edward was predeceased in death by his parents William and Martha Johnson, father and mother-in-law John Henry and Anita Byrd, one sister Nettie Coleman and two brothers Wilbert Johnson and Floyd Johnson.
