William Augustus Pryor

William Augustus Pryor was born on March 13, 1948 in King George, Virginia to the late Frances E. Jordan and George W. Pryor. He resided in King George County the majority of his life and was well known to the community.

William attended King George Public School and graduated from Ralph Bunche High School in 1966. He worked for the Naval Surface Weapons Center and the Joint Warfare Analysis Center for 37 years.

William was baptized at an early age and was an active member of the Little Ark Baptist Church. He served as a Trustee and sang with the Young Men's Chorus.

William was an outgoing person. He loved to go to gatherings and to fellowship with family and friends. He especially loved his grandson, Tre', and played an important role in his life.

Also, William was a strong-willed vocal man. He said what was on his mind and he didn't sugar coat anything. He was known to say, "The truth ain't always pretty is it?"

On Friday, July 10, 2015, William departed this life at Mary Washington Hospital, Fredericksburg, Virginia. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Patricia Pryor, daughter, Yolanda Lester, grandson, Marcus T. Johnson, son-in-law, Jerry Lester of King George; five sisters, Barbara J. Pendleton (Curtis) of Caret, VA, Jewel Lucas of Upper Marlboro, MD; Patricia Reynolds of Spotsylvania County, VA, Cassandra Contee' (Joe) of White Plains, MD, and Sharon Riveria of Newbern, NC; four brothers, Louis Pryor of King George, Dennis Washington of Fredericksburg, VA, George Waters of Salisbury, MD, and Mitchell Pryor of Washington state.
