At her residence, the Lord called Virginia Samuel Wingfield suddenly into eternal rest on Saturday, December 23, 2006, from labor to reward. She was born on November 15, 1943 to Peter Samuel and the late Catherine Samuel in Ruther Glen, Va.
Virginia's pride and joy was her husband, Ralph, daughter, Vonda and grandson, Desmon. Virginia was a devoted, caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, relative and friend. She had a special bond with the sick. She was truly a blessing as a caregiver for her husband, mother, mother-in-law, brother, and cousin. She provided true love for all of them.
She was a unique woman with low tolerance for foolishness. She was always there to give anyone advice on whatever the situation may have been, but she had a way of challenging the person as to the actions taken to solve the situation. She also loved to cook large quantities of food and expected you to eat it all.
To many people, Virginia was known as ''Nana, Pay and Ginia'. She received her education in Number 8 and Union High School in Caroline County. She was currently employed by Caroline County School Systems as a dedicated school bus driver for 38 years. She loved driving the school bus and cherished every moment with her children that rode the bus with her. She actually drove for generations of students that went to Ladysmith High, Ladysmith Elementary and Ladysmith Primary Schools. She also worked as a cafeteria worker, and custodian in the school system for many years. Earlier in life, she was employed by Howard Johnson's Motel, Jarrells's Truck Stop, and Holly Farms Poultry Factory.
Virginia accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and joined Mt. Salem Baptist Church, but later became a member of United Freedom Baptist Church. She loved to attend activities and read the Word daily. She was a member of many auxiliaries within the churches, including Mt.Salem Community Choir, the Heaven Bound Mass Choir, the United Freedom Gospel Choir, and currentlly held the position of Treasurer at United Freedom Baptist Church. She often attended the General Baptist Church Conventions to learn more about the rules, regulations, and procedures within the church.
Virginia leaves to cherish her memories her beloved husband Ralph D. Wingfield, a devoted daughter, LaVonda A. Wingfield, a loving grandson, Desmon M.Wingfield. Her father, Peter Samuel, one sister, Arethia Jackson, two brothers John Samuel and James Samuel, two sisters-in-law, Eloisa Johnson and Cynthia Samuel all of Ruther Glen, Va; one aunt, Vivian Taylor, one uncle, Vincent Taylor both of Silver Springs, MD., a loving cousin, Louisa Freeman, four devoted friends, Marsha Robinson, Mary Freeman, Ellen Harris, Julin Holmes and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
