Virginia Henry

Virginia Pratt Henry was born January 26, 1929 to the late Robert and Rosa Pratt. She was the eldest of seven children.

Mom departed this earthly life peacefully with her two sons at her side on Thursday, December 19 at 9:35pm at her residence in Chance, Va.

She was educated in the Essex County School System. She was united in holy matrimony to Howard Henry better known as (Dorsey and Shorty) and to this union they were blessed with three children, Howard Jr. , Louise, and Larry.

Mom accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age at Zion Baptist Church in Chance, Va., and later moved her membership to Antioch Baptist Church in Champlain, Va. where she grew and served there for many years singing with the Senior Choir and serving diligently on the deaconess board.

Mom was a homemaker who took pride in keeping her home spotless. She was a seamstress, a painter, a yard perfectionist, etc. Everything she did had to be done just right. No one could do it the way she wanted it done. Her cooking was to die for, she was the best. She put her heart and soul into everything she did, and she did it with such elegance and grace. She took a little and made a lot, by the blessings of God, the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and the Power of the Resurrected Savior Jesus Christ. God gave her so many beautiful spiritual and physical gifts, and she used them to bless others.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Henry, Sr., one brother Llewylen Pratt, three sisters Martha E. Taylor, Edna M. Pratt, and Mary M. Pratt.

She leaves to cherish fond memories, three loving and devoted children, Howard Henry, Jr. (Jean) of Forestville, Md., Louise Smedley (Don), of Temple Hills, Md., Larry Henry of Chance, Va., (and her most precious and most adorable doggie Little Man Henry), whom she loved dearly; two granddaughters, Lisa Henry and Kimberly Henry; two great granddaughters, Dasia Henry and Demi Henry and one great-grandson, Tre Baylor; one brother Robert Pratt, Jr. (Elsie) of Caret, Va.; four sisters, Rosa Upshaw (Morton) of Port Royal, Va., Louise Atkinson (Billy) of Temple Hills, Md., Myrtle Beale (Milton) of Capitol Heights, Md., and Mable Wright (Melton) of Woodbridge Va.; one remaining aunt, Martha Clarke of Caret, Va. ; one devoted cousin Martha Clarke of Desha, Va. and a host of other relatives and friends.
