Velma Woodfolk

Velma. G. Woodfolk was born September 8, 1932 in Fredericksburg, VA and attended the public school system. She joined Shiloh Old Site Baptist Church at an early age. "Dee-Dee" married Hausey L. Woodfolk, Jr. on October 21, 1967 and they raised three children; Hausey III, O'Brian and Melva.

After their marriage Velma became a watch care member at Zion Grove Baptist Church where she served on the Usher and Missionary Ministries providing her legendary "potato salad" at all event as part of the Culinary Ministry.

Velma joined Welcome Chapter 129 Order of the Eastern Stars in 1984 and was a Past Worthy Matron. Another high point in her life was the Hill Top Lunch Spot; a favorite hangout for Fredericksburg teenagers during the three years that she and Hausey managed it.

Her happiest moments in time were those spent surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, usually around the holidays. She will truly be missed by many.

"Sagg", (affectionately called), was preceded in death by her parents: John and Mable Harris; three brothers, Johnny, Otto and Robert Harris.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Hausey Jr. of 46 years; her children Hausey III (Denise), W. O'Brian (Sylvia), and Melva Woodfolk; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. One sister: Margaret Harris and one brother: Karl Harris. Her in laws: Alice Kenny, Gloria (Aubrey) Reynolds, Jaunita Hill, William (Anita) Woodfolk, Sharon (Michael) Dickerson, Shelia Foster and Linda Harris. Special friends Judy Blake, Matlyn Edwards, Emily Lucus, Eldora Parker, MaryAnn Rasor, and Gloria Steward, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends share fond memories of Velma
