Thelma Louise Harris Morton was born in Caroline County on April 25, 1924, to the late John and Maria Harris. She departed this life suddenly on April 20, 2002, at Mary Washington Hospital.
She received her education in the Caroline County School System and was a member of St. John Baptist Church in Milford, Virginia.
Thelma was married to Alphonso Minor, and to this union three sons were born. One son, Allen Lorenzo Minor, preceded her in death. She later married the late Robert D. Morton.
She was employed as a domestic worker. She also was employed at the Veneer Plant in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and Keller Ladder in Milford, Virginia.
Thelma enjoyed having holiday dinners with her family and going to her senior citizen meetings where she enjoyed socializing with other senior members. She also took pleasure in raising a garden until she was no longer able.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two devoted sons, A. Waverly Minor, Sr., and Fred M. Minor; two daughters-in-law, Pearl Minor and LaVarro Minor; four devoted grandchildren, A. Waverly Minor, Jr., Kevin Minor, Sandra Minor, and Towanda Minor; one granddaughter-in-law, Angela Minor; one great-grandson, Justin Allen Minor; one sister, Lucille B. Wright; two half sisters, Viola Wright and Elsie Childs; one half brother, Raymond Wright; one sister-in-law, Barbara Wright; one brother-in-law, Sam Childs; two aunts, Isaline Jones and Myrtle Tinsley; two devoted cousins, Cleveland Rock and Jeannice Washington; two step brothers, Peyton Wright and Allandus Wright; one step sister, Mary Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
