Mr. Temple Washington, Jr., son of the late Temple Washington, Sr. and Gracie Lee Washington was born in Caroline County, VA on May 13, 1939 and quietly slipped away on June 2, 2017 in Fredericksburg, VA.
He was baptized at Bethlehem Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. S. H. Carter and attended Bethlehem Baptist Church, Spotsylvania, VA for many years. He also attended and graduated from Union High School, Bowling Green, VA, where he excelled in Basketball as one of the high school's top players.
Temple later married Clara Gatewood and from this union three children were born: Willimae Bailey, Temple, III (deceased) and Paul. In later years, Temple joined the Antioch Baptist Church where he served faithfully until his health began to fail. He was a devoted worshipper and regularly served his church by attending Sunday School, Prayer and Bible Study, singing in the Men's Chorus, and Member of Tech Team Member. He was a quiet and gentle person who loved God and his church family. He was always willing to help in the church and community whenever asked.
Past Master Temple Washington, Jr. was a stalwart and trusted member of King George Masonic Lodge #314 and Guiding Star Chapter #216 Order of Eastern Star. Past Master Washington served his Lodge and Chapter admirably.
Temple retired from the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren, VA after 36 years as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. Even though retired, he kept busy and enjoyed driving a tractor trailer on some long and short distance trips where he got to see and enjoy the beautiful countryside.
Temple was a friend to all and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was predeceased by his brother Curtis Washington, but left to cherish his memory are his children: Williemae Bailey, King George, VA, Paul Washington (Dawnesha), Charleston, SC, and his mother, Grace Washington, Caroline County, VA. Also left to remember him are brothers and a sister: Theodore Washington (Shirley), Pauline Diggs (Ronald), Gene Washington (Bonnie) and Clarence Washington (Bertha). Grandchildren left to also cherish his memory are: Veronica, Montero, Denziel, Gwendolyn, Skylar, Sydney, and Savannah. His loving memories will also be cherished by a devoted and special friend, Phillistine Peyton, along with a host nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
