Sylvester Dennis Beverly was born on October 28, 1941 to the late Nathaniel and Zelda Beverly. He accepted Christ as his savior at an early age and joined New Monrovia Baptist Church.
He attended Westmoreland County School and moved to Washington, D.C. in 1961. He enjoyed working on cars, training dogs, and racing his truck at the Colonial Beach Dragway. Sylvester had a special love for antique cars in which he entered in various car shows. Along with loving cars, he loved German Shepherds, Doberman Pinschers, and Rock Wilders. When he wasn't outside, or at a car show he enjoyed sitting in his recliner watching his favorite Western movie, Whyatt Erp.
Sylvester worked for Virgo Fish Cleaning in Washington, D.C. He loved and enjoyed his job along with meeting new people and doing what he loved, cleaning fish. In 1995 he worked for Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg V.A., until his health began to fail.
Sylvester was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. In 1988 he married the late Dorothy Mae Beverly. He was preceded in his death by his wife, Dorothy Beverly and two children, Alvin, and Luvenia Smith.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his children Sylvia Smith of Fredericksburg, VA, Eric Wright of Washington, D.C., Vohn Wright of Bowie, M.D., Lisa McDowney, Judy Ann (Jimmy) and Gabert Smith of Colonial Beach, V.A., Eighteen grandchildren: DazJuan Weldon, DeJon Weldon, Madison Smith, Vohn Wirght Jr., Monique Wright, Wayne Smith, Shanetha Smith, Stephanie Smith, Timothy McDowney Jr., Shaniya Smith, Daevareus Smith, Shakeira Smith, Kynesha Smith, Jaime Smith, Antwan Gross, Antonio Gross, Ebony Smith, and a very special devoted Grandson Allen Smith.
