“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39 New International Version (NIV)
Susan Howell Carter, daughter of the late Ellsworth Grimes and Martha White departed this world on September 15, 2018.
Susan grew up and attended public school in King George, VA. She accepted Christ at an early age at Little Ark Baptist Church. She worked as a care giver for several years. She attended church and sang in the choir at Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church.
In 1956 Susan and William Carter were united in marriage, and together they raised seven children and three step children. She leaves a large family to grieve her loss; children—Linwood Carter, Debra Parker, Albert Keyes, Martha Coleman, George Carter, Edna Carter (deceased), Willett Carter, Aleta Tracy Carter, Sheila Carter-Tod, and Rodgrick Carter (deceased); grandchildren—Tranida Keyes, Ayana Carter, Ebony Chuukwu, Aleta Zuri Carter, Naomi Carter-Tod, Fiona Carter-Tod, Lamonte Keys, Clarence Carter, La Brone Faulks, and Scott Carter; 30 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Ellsworth Grimes and Martha White, her brothers; Will Grimes, Gus Grimes, George Grimes, and Joe Grimes, her sisters; Francis Newman, Ruth Banks, and Rachel Frazier, her husband, Thomas Carter and her children; Edna Carter and Rodgrick Carter.
Susan’s presence was so strong and extensive that with her passing, a significant light has been extinguished from our lives. But, our grief is tempered in knowing that she is free of her earthly pain and suffering. We are comforted in knowing that she is alive in Christ and is now in His presence and His loving care.
Funeral services will be held at Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church, 135 Chapel Green Road, Fredericksburg, Va. 22405 on Friday, September 21, 2018. The viewing and visitation will begin at 11:00 and the funeral services at noon.
