Ms. Shirley Mae Frazier of King George, Virginia was promoted to Glory on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia after battling a long-term illness.
Shirley was the first born child of the late James and Adeal Scott, Sr., born on December 14, 1945. She was better known as "Shirley Mae" through the years she was a faithful member and worker of Peoples Union Baptist Church, King George, Virginia, until her health began to fail.
A little about Shirley….She was strong, bold, smart, spiritual, sassy and always had something to say! She was a fighter, a protector, always showing her love for family and friends. She enjoyed serving her church and especially loved helping others. Her fashion sense was always in top form, starting with her church hats, jewelry, suits, even down to her heels.
She attended and excelled in the King George Public School System.
Shirley sought out and found the perfect job for herself as a teacher's aide for the King George County School System. Continuing with her education, Shirley took up presence at L.E. Smoot Memorial Library; there she worked as a Library Aide for twenty-eight years; not only did she work hard at her job, she also worked harder for her church and community. She was the Sunday School Secretary, Church Clerk, Vice President of the Gospel Chorus and President of the Angelic Choir at Peoples Union Baptist Church.
Shirley was an active advocate for the Fredericksburg Area Sickle Cell Association.
Shirley was preceded in death by her son, Eric Darnell Frazier and father, James Scott, Sr. She leaves to mourn in joy her mother, Adeal Scott of King George, Va.; two daughters, Diane Frazier of Spotsylvania, Va., Angela Frazier; and son, Clinton (LaTrease) Frazier both of King George, Va.; sister, Hazel Scott of King George, Va.; brother, James Scott, Jr. of Washington, D.C.; eleven grandchildren; one aunt, Agnes (Bishop Ben) Wilder; three special friends, Linda Addair, Peggy Shanklin, Laura Steward all of King George, Va.; one special cousin, Priscilla Scott of Maryland; and special loving care given by: Angela Brown, Eric Frazier, and Darlene Swann always there when needed.
