Selven Dempsey Roy

Selven Dempsey Roy was born September 2, 1922 in Westmoreland County, Virginia to the late Selven and Augustus Roy. He departed this life November 20, 2002 after suffering a long illness. Dempsey, ''Big Shot'', as he was fondly known spent his early childhood years in Westmoreland County where he came to know the Lord and put his trust in him. He joined Grants Hill Church at a young age and remained a member there until his health began failing him.
Dempsey worked as laborer in Washington, D.C. until his retirement and then became a waterman which was his passion of life. He loved interacting and displaying his boat with the different fishing parties which had requested his service.
He leaves behind precious memories: two daughters, Brenda Baumgardner and Sharon Posey of Clinton, MD; two sons, Alvin Watts and Finance Margaret Hill of Washington, D.C. and Selven Watts of Colonial Beach, VA; one son-in-law, Sam Baumgardner, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and a special adopted daughter, Sarita Hayes, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
