Sarah Jane Triplett

Sarah Jane Triplett was born on July 5, 1928 in King George County, Virginia, the youngest daughter of the late Charles and Martha Scott. She entered into eternal rest on Friday, May 25, 2018 at Mary Washington Hospital after a brief stay at the Fredericksburg Health and Rehabilitation Center in Fredericksburg, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her late husband Robert Earl Triplett, a sister Louise Lawson and five brothers, Charlie, James, Clarence, Isaiah and Jack Scott.
Sarah was educated in the King George County public school system where she worked hard “to show herself approved” with high marks, as shown on her 3rd grade report card for the 1938 – 1939 school year. She graduated from the Edgehill Training School with high marks among her classmates.
Sarah joined Little Ark Baptist Church at an early age and assisted in the Kitchen Ministry. She was never one to linger very long after church services, but politely said her goodbyes, got in her car and went home. But, she loved her church and attended regularly until her health started failing.
In addition to being a loving wife and mother, she took several correspondence courses to enhance her knowledge and skills in nursing and business. In particular, Sarah served as a “nurse” and caregiver to a number of relatives and close friends. She was an excellent household bookkeeper, who could make a dollar go a long ways. This valuable learning experience culminated many years later when she became an insurance agent for Universal Life Insurance Company in King George and surrounding jurisdictions, retiring after over 20 years of service with numerous awards and commendations.
Known for her apple pies, love of baseball and no nonsense mentality, Sarah was also an avid outdoorswoman and could often be found outside tending to her flower garden, high up on a ladder painting her shed, going for a walk or sitting in her sunroom entertaining family and friends, or reading the Free-Lance Star newspaper. An avid traveler, she sent many spring breaks and summer vacations with her grandchildren and traveled parts of the United States and Europe visiting family with her dear friend, John White of Stafford, Virginia.
Preceded in death by her late husband, Earl, she leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her life: two daughters, Loraine Greer of Dahlgren, Virginia and Pamela Jefferson (Harold) of Fort Washington, Maryland; Gale, the wife of her late son Kenneth, of Columbus, Georgia; and two sons, Darnell “Donnie” (Linda) of Colonial Beach, Virginia and Claude (Anita) of Dahlgren, Virginia; eleven grandchildren, Keith and Christopher McCall, Bridget Brooks and Tiffany Bundy; Robin Triplett and April Perton; Antonio, Claude “Jr”, and Brandon Triplett; and Erica and Aaryn Jefferson. A host of nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren will also cherish her memory.
