Ruth Althea Monroe

Ruth Althea Monroe affectionately known as "Apple" of King George, Virginia departed this life on Friday, March 1, 2013.

Born March 21, 1937 in King George County, to the late James Morty and Vertalia Brown. She is preceded in death by her sister Ann Hudson.

Althea is a graduate of Ralph Bunche High School and a retiree of Multivac Incorporated and the King George School System where she was hardworking, dedicated and always dependable. Althea accepted Christ at an early age at Shiloh Baptist Church in Westmoreland County, Virginia and later became a member of Antioch Baptist Church where she served as a Missionary and as a part of their Women's Ministry.

Althea thoroughly enjoyed meeting people and was loved by all. She was very comical, enjoyed laughter had an affectionate smile, and a very compassionate person.

She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Renee´ Ballard (David), Antwan Holton (Charlotte), Shirrelle Berkeley (Keith), Kelsey Monroe (Charlene), Jacqueline Kay (Ricky), James Monroe (Heather) and Tommie Monroe (Stacy); two brothers, Kenneth Brown (Joyce), Donald Brown (Cassandra), two sisters, Vertalia Brown and Joyanne May; six sister-in-laws, Lorraine Reese, Mable Noel, Oakie Monroe, Geraldine Hunt, Alice Taylor and Odessa Green; two aunts Muriel Fitzhugh and Hilda Brown; seventeen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Her close and dear friends: Eursla Holmes, Hazel Greer and MaryBetty Harvey.
