Ruth A. Liggins

Ruth Alma Liggins at 92 was granted her angel wings on February 10, 2017 at Mary Washington Hospital, Fredericksburg, Virginia.

She was affectionately know as "RuhCat" to many family members and friends. She was born to the late Florence Bailey on October 29, 1924 and was raised by her late grandparents, Charles and Rosie Robb.

In 1946 she married to late Curtis Liggins. They shared one son.

She joined Little Ark Baptist at an early age under the leadership of Rev. George Carter. She worked diligently and faithfully, serving as a musician for a number of years.

She pursued her education at Little Ark school and King George Training School. Ruth worked as a domestic worker and was also employed by King George school system driving a school bus for 29 years. She loved music and singing.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Edward Bailey and sister, Martha Bailey.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories a devoted son, Troy and daughter-in-law, Angela Lee-Liggins of King George, VA; two grandsons Philip (Laurie Hill) and Joshua; one granddaughter, Taryn; two great granddaughters, Ainsley and Brinley; one great grandson, Tyler, all of King George, VA; a special cousins, Lindora Smith, Mary Bell Scranage; special friends Brenda Toliver, Willie and Gerry Jenkins of Washington, DC and Jean Frye Shanklin; nieces Pam Cole (Raymond); Bernita Byrd (Clifford); Florence "Sissy" Bailey-Ball (Bryan), Marilynn Shelton (Lornell); nephews Edward S. Bailey Jr. (Brenda) and Ernest Bailey and a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
