Roy Clarence Garnett departed this life on Monday, August 18, 2014 at Envoy Westover Hills Nursing Home in Richmond, Virginia.

Roy was born on February 16, 1926 in Caroline County to the Late William Garnett and Sarah Dennis Garnett.

He joined Ebenezer Baptist Church of Supply at a very early age.

Roy joined the Navy as a teenager and did two tours. He was a World War II veteran.

Roy married Frances Scott Smith and four children were born to that union.

Roy was predeceased by his wife, parents and sisters, Daisey Hutchinson, Ruth Robinson, Minnie Odum and Maggie Lee; his brothers, Raymond, William, Joseph and Vivian Garnett and one step-daughter Frances Griffin.

Left to cherish his memories are three daughters, Ronetta Walker- Brown (Charles), LaMona White (Jeff), Nadine Garnett, step-daughter Virginia Clark; two sons, Birmingham Washington, Ivan Garnett (Diane), three stepsons, Wanzer Smith, James Smith (Ida), Garnett Smith (Marilyn); twenty-three grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; one sister-in-law Bertha Garnett and a host of other relatives and friends.
