Rosie D. Baylor

Rosie Delane Baylor, lovingly known as “Rosalane,” was quietly called home on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at St. Mary’s Bon Secours Hospital in Richmond, VA. Waiting with open arms to greet her at heaven's door were her two brothers Robert and William Baylor and sister Mary Baylor Banks ``Sister" who preceded her in death.

Rosie was born on July 29, 1952 in King and Queen County, VA. She was the seventh child born to the late William and Rosie Baylor.

She accepted Christ at an early age and joined the First Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She sang on the choir for many years and if there was an opportunity for the old choir to reunite, she gladly would have participated. Throughout the many changes in her life, her faith never waivered and she kept God first. She continued to attend church until her health began to fail.

Rosie attended the King and Queen County Public School System where she graduated from Central High School’s class of 1970. She went on to attend and complete business school after two years. She began working for North Carolina Mutual Insurance Co. in Richmond, VA. She worked there for years and would always reflect fondly on her time and the people there. Later she would find her true calling was caring for others and she did so as a Certified Personal Caregiver. She was employed by All About Personal Care caring for others right up until she could no longer.

Left with the fond memories of her loving and caring spirit are her two children: Kristal Baylor-Gray of Tappahannock, VA and Christopher O. Baylor Sr. (Deonna) of Petersburg, VA; four grandchildren: Christopher Jr., Cardell Jr. and Elaina all of Petersburg, VA and Aniyah of San Diego, CA; three sisters: Thelma Johnson and Joan Hill both of St. Stephens Church, VA, Gloria Gaines (Nathan) of Hustle, VA; one brother Marvin Baylor of Richmond, VA; one dearly devoted niece Cynthia Garnett (Eric) of St. Stephens Church, VA, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
