Deaconess Rose Jeannette Pierce entered into eternal rest at Mary Washington Hospital on January 7, 2023, at the age of 85. Jeannette was born in Colonial Beach, VA on May 12, 1937, to the late Norris and Mamie Johnson. Deaconess Pierce attended Colonia Beach Public Schools. She was later joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Walter William Pierce in 1970.
Jeannette accepted Christ at an early age while attending New Monrovia Baptist Church in Colonial Beach where she was active with many ministries until she later transferred her membership to the Liberty Empowerment Baptist Church, Colonial Beach, VA where she was an active member of the Deaconess Board, Executive Board Member, Women’s Ministry, Hospitality, and Choir until her health began to fail her. Jeannette started her work life at Shirley Millers in Colonial Beach until she joined the staff at TBS on the Marine Corp Base in Quantico, VA until she retired.
Jeannette had a small passion of sending cards for special occasions to family and friends, but her Greatest Love was spending time with her family. She is preceded in death by her husband Walter William Pierce and son Walter Glen Pierce; Parents Norris and Mamie Johnson; two sisters Abbie Jones and Addie Mae Turner; two brothers William Johnson, and Butch Johnson. She leaves to cherish her loving memory seven daughters, Selinda Owens of King George, VA, Everlyn McDowney (Murphy) of King George, VA, Laura Quarterman (Ken) of Clinton MD, Ross Ann Bumbrey (Sterling) of King George, VA, Stella Campbell (Terry) of Caroline, VA, Angela Newman (Ronnie) of Supply, VA, and Retired Staff Sergeant Lecola Pierce of North Carolina; Four son’s Otis Lee Johnson of Colonial Beach, VA, Lewis Johnson of Washington, DC, Retired Sergeant First Class Rydell Pierce of Baltimore, MD and Retired Chief Warn Officer 5 William Pierce of Chester, VA ; One sister Gladys Brisco (John) LaPlata MD, and Joseph Chase of Waldolf, MD; A host of grandchildren; Her lifelong friends Rev. Ava Hayes, Jean Newman, Doretha Hayes, and Lucille Helleman; her very special cousin Inetta Johnson, a special friend Deborah Dickerson and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins that she loved dearly.
