Rosalind "Terry" Peterson

Rosalind "Terry " Peterson was born February 13, 1948 at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia to Marguerite Armstead Nelson and the late Roscoe Nelson of Tappahannock, Virginia. She departed this life on May 17, 2014.
She was baptized at an early age at St. John Baptist Church in Tappahannock, Virginia. For over 38 years, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Melvin Harry Peterson.
Terry graduated from Essex County High School in Tappahannock, Virginia. She received a Bachelor's degree in Education from Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia.
Terry taught in the Essex County School system for over 35 years, as an elementary teacher, where she retired. She loved teaching and preparing her students for their future endeavors. Terry passionately enjoyed gardening, shopping, traveling and an eclectic host of their hobbies. She treasured warm interactions spent with her many friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Roscoe Nelson; brothers, Julius Dale Nelson and David Nelson. She leaves to cherish fond memories a warm hearted mother, Marguerite Nelson of Tappahannock, Virginia; a devoted husband Melvin Peterson and loving daughter, Vickie Peterson of Richmond, Virginia; one sister Wendy Gray (Everett) of Tappahannock, Virginia; three brothers, William Nelson (Alma) of Tappahannock, Virginia; Reginald Nelson (Norma) Chester, Virginia; Tyrone Nelson (Shirley) Chesterfield, Virginia; Tyrone Nelson (Shirley) Chesterfield, Virginia; two aunts, Mary Hardman, of Laurel, Maryland; AND Margaret Henderson, of Washington, D.C.; a host of nieces nephews and cousins, Mary Gladys Johnson, a life-long confidant, who from the tender years of kindergarten until her passing shared unique bond. She will be missed by all.
