Robert Thomas Johnson went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 17, 2009 at the home of his daughter Renita Pierce with his daughter and grandson by his side.
Robert was born on June 2, 1936 in Caroline County, Virginia to the late Newton and Ethel Johnson.
He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized and joined the Antioch Baptist Church, King George, Virginia.
Robert enjoyed working in gardening, cutting timber, being with family and friends. He also loved watching TV especially drag racing.
Robert was preceded in death by his sister, Fannie Johnson and brothers, Williams F. Johnson and John H. Johnson.
Robert leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of forty-three years, Irene Johnson; three daughters, Renita Pierce and special son-in-law, Walter Glenn (Watermelon) of Colonial Beach, VA, Carolyn Kirkland of Washington, D.C. and Betty Graham (Sammuel) of Waldorf, Maryland; three sons, Robert T. Johnson, Jr. of Colonial Beach, VA, Garry Michaux of Washington, D.C. and Dale Lewis of Washington, D.C.; twenty-four grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; four sisters, Annie Maude Epps, King George, Va., Garnet Hackett, Hague, Va., Mary E. Grimes (Calvin) of King George, VA and Annie Marie Berkley (George) of Burkesville, VA; two brothers, Ernest Lee Johnson of King George, VA and Edward Johnson of Williamsburg, VA; five sisters-in-law, Dorris Johnson of King George, VA, Catherine Irving of Washington, D. C., Lucille Taylor, Corene Taylor and Hazel Taylor all of New York and Will Taylor of Enfield, North Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and others relatives and friends.
