On Thursday evening December 24, 2020 our Heavenly Father embraced Rev. Thomas Henry Barclay in His loving arms and bestowed upon him the promised reward of everlasting life.
Thomas (the 8th of 11 children) was born on April 19, 1934 to the late Raymond and Blanche Barclay of King George, VA. He is preceded in death by his siblings Verdella, Asbury, Virginia, Irvin, Raymond, Anna Mae, Addie, Randolph and Martha (Rena).
At an early age he joined Little Ark Baptist Church in Dahlgren, VA. He attended King George, Virginia public schools and later studied at Rutgers University. Thomas graduated from Richmond Theological Seminary.
On September 14, 1952 he married the lovely Martha E. Smith and to this union they were blessed with four beautiful children: Anthony, Tyrone, Cynthia and Judy. Thomas was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend to many. His presence will be missed. He loved going to church, sporting events, eating and spending time with family. Thomas worked for the Mobile Oil Company as an Accountant, where he later retired after 38 years. Also, during this time Thomas was called to the ministry, where he pastored Antioch Baptist Church in Goochland, VA for 15 years which he enjoyed immensely.
Thomas leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife Martha; his children Anthony (Caron), Tyrone (Millicent), Cynthia and Judy all of Glen Allen, VA. Seven adoring grand-daughters Nicole, Danielle, Michelle, Malissa, Stacey, Laura and Antionette. Seven great-grandchildren, a grandpup Jax and a host of nieces and nephews. He also leaves to cherish his memory a loving sister Blanche (Gerald) Greenfield, four sister in-laws: Hattie Barclay, Lorraine Barclay, Mary Brooks and Gertrude Smith. Two brother in-laws Allen Baylor and Raymond Clark. Three god-children Cheryl Barclay, Suntanna Harvey and Richard Johnson.
