Reuben Davis

On Tuesday, October 22, 2002, God in His love and mercy gently called to rest Brother Reuben Davis who was affectionately called ''10-4'' by his family and close friends.

Reuben son of the late Carrie Davis Young was born on January 10, 1925 in King George, Virginia. He received his education in King George Public Schools.

Reuben served his country for a short period of time in the Navy. He later was employed by N.S.W.C. as a rigger until his retirement on December 31, 1982 after 35 years of service.

He was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Lucille Richards on May 31, 1952 who preceded him in death, May 19, 1981. From this union was three children.

Reuben was a lover of music and loved to sing Gospel. He and his son, Horace, sang with the former Gospel Kings for a number of years.

At an early age he accepted Christ and joined The Union Bethel Baptist Church. Later after relocating to Westmoreland, he united with his wife's church, The Little Zion Baptist Church in Oak Grove, Virginia.

Reuben was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, who will also be remembered for his compassionate disposition and his jovial and comical nature. He enjoyed having a good time with his family and friends.

He leaves to cherish his memories: two daughters, Ophelia Triplette of Colonial Beach, Virginia, Linda Buckner of Dahlgren, Virginia; one brother, Ralph Young of Fort Washington, Maryland; five grandchildren, Bridgett, Tiffany, Lawrence, Lance and Horace, Jr.; four great-grandchildren, Dewayne, Adarylis, Shakia, and Josai; one son-in-law, Lawrence Buckner; one daughter-in-law, Arlene Davis; three sisters-in-law, Ella Richards, Alberta Byrd and Daisy Young; two brothers-in-law, Arthur Richards and Charles Byrd; one uncle, Zack Thomas; one aunt, Alice Shanklin, a host of other relatives and friends.
