Regina Evette Lewis

Regina Evette "Sassy" Lewis passed away on January 12, 2014 at her home in Dahlgren, Virginia. She was born on December 30, 1970 at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Regina was a graduate of King George High School in King George, Virginia. After graduating from high school in 1989 she went to the Keystone Job Corps Training Center in Drums, Pennsylvania to obtain a Degree in Culinary Arts. She worked hard and dedicated herself to the Corps where she was able to receive her Culinary Arts Certificate in 1991. From there she pursued a career in the United States Navy in 1992 as a cook using the skills acquired from her time in the Job Corps. She loved serving in the Navy and traveling abroad as she was always one for an adventure. While serving her tour duty on the U.S Naval base in Norfolk, Virginia she also received her Culinary Arts Degree from Johnson and Wales University, where she graduated with honors in 2000. She was honorably discharged in 2001 from the Navy where she received numerous Good Conduct Awards, a National Defenses Service Medal, and Navy Overseas Service Ribbons.
Regina was baptized at Little Ark Baptist Church where she gave her life to God at an early age and continued to serve him throughout her life. She had a true and abounding faith for the Lord.
Regina was a true DALLAS COWBOYS fan and would boast about how great her COWBOYS were and how much she loved them to anyone who would listen. All you would need to do is drive by her home and witness that. She never had any kids of her own but she loved all of the kids in the neighborhood taking them on special outings and having parties for them. She would also invite everyone over for cookouts and big sporting events. She was a very outgoing person who loved cooking, shopping, and getting dressed up; with a flair for photography (she loved taking pictures). Regina loved her family very much and would do whatever she could to help them, especially her loving mom, who she showered with gifts of love and friendship. She had an amazing smile that would radiate through your soul and melt your heart and was the fairy-god-mother to her "special kids".
Regina leaves to mourn her loving mother Roberta (Gary) Holmes of Quantico, Virginia; two sisters Christina Alston of Triangle, Virginia, Ebony Norwood of Suitland, Maryland; one brother James "Mike" Bumbry, Jr of Dahlgren, Virginia; A stepmother Laverne Bumbry of Dahlgren, Virginia, two nephews Christopher and Cameron Norwood of Suitland, Maryland, one niece Reanna Balderson of King George, Virginia; six Uncles Chester (Eveyln) Lewis of Dahlgren, Virginia, Charles "Tootie" Lewis of Germany, Phillip "Ike" Lewis of Colonial Beach, Virginia, Freddie Bumbrey of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Paul Bumbry of Owens, Virginia; five Aunts: Dorothy (Nathaniel) Exum of Seat Pleasant, Maryland, Savannah Halliburton of Dahlgren, Viriginia, Elizabeth Lewis of El Paso Texas, Joceyln Bumbry Mitchell of Suitland, Maryland, Charoltte (Bruce) Floot of Suitland, Maryland; two special cousins Willie Jackson of King George, Virginia Faye Johnson of King George, Virginia, one special friend Marlo Conway of King George, Virginia and a host of great uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
