Randy Lamont Payne was born on August 29,1988 at MCV Medical Center in Richmond, VA to Gail Payne and Clayton “Sonnyboy” Johnson. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Bernard Payne Sr. and paternal grandparents Maggie and James Johnson, his aunt Lisa Payne and nephew Ja’Cari Seldon.
He attended Essex County Public Schools where he graduated in June of 2006. Randy began working at the early age of 17. He began working at Tire Doctor then Collision One. After 5 months, he furthered his employment at Ferguson Trenching Company in La Plata, MD; Randy gained many friends while employed at FTC. Randy remained employed with Ferguson for 10 years upon gaining his wings. Randy enjoyed many outdoor hobbies such as hunting, fishing, lawn care and was always working on cars; He also enjoyed attending Tractor pulls on Friday nights. Family was one of Randy biggest values. he was the life of many cookouts, shooting cornhole, and pitching horseshoes. Randy had a huge heart, he loved helping anyone who needed an auto mechanic. He cherished many memories with his brothers hunting. One of his sayings on the radio was “All I see is horns, y’all better get on him.” Randy leaves many memories with family and friends. He would always call his sister every morning and ask about his nieces or just to pick with her. He would also call his nephew Baby J every Saturday morning and say, “Juice you going fishing today.”
On Friday May 14, 2021 around 8:45pm Randy was called home to be with the Lord, suddenly. He was surrounded by plenty of family and friends. The legacy of love he leaves behind are fond memories of his mother “Ma” Gail Payne, his father Clayton Johnson, 7 strong bonded brothers Patrick, Clayton, Dashawn Payne of Hustle, VA, Joshua Payne of Tappahannock, VA, Antonio and Bernard Payne of Fredericksburg, VA and one special sister Dashel Payne of Tappahannock, Va. A grandmother Dora White (Randy), 3 nieces Ayarah, Dream and De’veah, 3 nephews Joshua Jr., Jaylen, Josiah and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Randy leaves much laughter and many and special fond memories with his loving and devoted fiance Michelle Bundy.
