Very quietly and peacefully on Monday, May 1, 2017, Almighty God, in his infinite wisdom, mercy and grace, gently closed the eyes of his beloved Paulette DeSylvia Burrell Clarke, and she entered into eternal rest.
Paulette was the eldest daughter of Abraham L. Burrell, Sr. and Mary T. Burrell. She was born on January 13, 1951 in Middlesex County, and attended Essex County Public Schools. At an early age, she joined the Union Shiloh Baptist Church in Laneview, VA and recently joined Macedonia Baptist Church, Center Cross, VA. Soon after graduating from Essex County High School, she married Larry E. Clarke, Sr. (deceased) and from this union three children were born. They made their home in Alexandria, VA where she was employed at Giant Food as a cashier for over 20 years. They moved back to Essex County, and then eventually she moved to her current residence in Fredericksburg, VA.
Paulette was a warm and caring person who had a lot of love in her heart and she made an impact on the lives of everyone she came in contact with. She adored her children, grandchildren, and entire family unconditionally. She was the go to person for anyone who had a problem. She did her research to help "figure things out". She also was like a second mother to her younger brothers and sisters.
She was a very good cook and was famous for her deep fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, and rice pudding. She loved herself some crabs and Lays potato chips too!
She leaves to cherish fond memories her mother, Mary T. Burrell, Tappahannock, VA two daughters: April Clarke, Fredericksburg, VA and Shanai Clarke, Tappahannock, VA; one son: Larry Clarke, Jr., Fredericksburg, VA; eight sisters: Levern Miller (Clarence), Laneview, VA; Erva Veney, Tappahannock, VA; Mary (Be-Be) Gaines, Hustle, VA; Arlene Gail Bundy, Dunnsville, VA; Sandra Burrell, Woodbury, NJ; Rhonda Burrell, Tappahannock, VA; Sherrie Burrell, Fredericksburg, VA; and Lori Burrell, Fredericksburg, VA. Five brothers: Raymond Hammond (Yvonne) Lakeview Terrace, CA; Linnell Burrell, Sr. (Angela), Havelock, NC; Abraham Burrell, Jr. Farnham, VA; Kevin Burrell, Edgewood, MD, and Troy Burrell, Dunnsville, VA; Eight grandchildren: Kyerra Miller, MeShaylah Clarke, Marquese Clarke, LaKiyah Clarke, Laylah Clarke, Kameron Burnett, Savannah Clarke, and Summer Clarke and was like a grandmother to Marquelle Griffin, a host of aunts, uncles and a host nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. A very special thank you to Kyerra Miller, her granddaughter who never left her side, Lori Burrell, her youngest sister for being there to care for her during her illness at home and in the hospital and to her Daughter Shanai for her love and support every minute of the day.
