Oliver C Fortune

Oliver Cromwell Fortune Sr. 86, of Port Royal, Virginia went home to be with the Lord on January 18, 2014, at Henrico Doctors Hospital, Richmond, Virginia.

He was born in Supply Virginia on September 27th, 1927 to the late Daniel and Robinette Fortune.

Oliver attended Essex Training School where he was Valedictorian. He served in the U.S. Army from January 19, 1946 to July 28, 1947. From here he began his career at FMC as electrician and he retired from there many years later.

Oliver served on the Port Royal Town Council and for over fifty years was a dedicated member of the Shiloh Baptist Church, Port Royal, Virginia. He Served as Superintendent of the Sunday school, taught Sunday school and became a deacon continuing his dedication to the community, his church and God. In his recent years, he continued his Bible studies at Memorial Baptist Church and St. Peters Episcopal Church, both in Port Royal, Virginia.

He leaves to celebrate his life, his wife of 65 years, Gladys and their four children, Oliver Jr. (Betty Jo), of Lorton, Virginia; Towanda of Fredericksburg, Virginia; Richard (Tawana) of Chesapeake, Virginia; Kimberly (Melvin) of Brecksville, Ohio. Oliver was the youngest of eight children.

He also leaves his beloved sister, Robinette Young of Hustle, Virginia, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends whom he loved very much.
