Nathan L Holmes

Nathan L. Holmes, youngest of nine children was born to the late Herbert and Estella Holmes in Virginia on September 30th, 1953. He peacefully ended his journey on August 2nd, 2016 in comforts of his home surrounded by his immediate family.

Nathan is survived by his fiancée Carmen L. Jones, four children (and spouses) Jessica Wilson (James) of Newport News, Virginia; Jennifer Payne of Richmond, Virginia; Frank Rodriguez (Shimiecha) of Shadyside, Maryland and Arthur Jones (Cyquieta) of Raeford, North Carolina; five grandchildren Malik Jones, Sebastian Daniels, A'Jare Jones, Rico Rodriguez and Arthur Jones, Jr. He is also survived by four siblings Susie Lewis of Fredericksburg, Virginia; Antoinette Holmes-Pompey of Hustle, Virginia; Norman Holmes of Hustle, Virginia and Charles Holmes (Vernell) of Fredericksburg, Virginia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom he loved dearly. Nathan was proceeded in death by his parents Herbert and Estella Holmes, two sisters Gladys L. Berry and Mary B. Holmes, two brothers Herbert Holmes and Andrew Holmes.

Nathan known to most as "Nate" was a hard workingman whom loved to stay busy. He would work all day and come home to work around the house or on a car. It was rare that he would be sitting still doing nothing. According to him, there was always something to do. Nate never left a task undone and forever leaving his fingerprints every place he went. He worked in construction for numerous years and was a member of the Laborer's Trust Union. He enjoyed working in construction and was admired by his co-workers. He loved chocolate and his grandchildren. To sum things up, Nate was a simple man whom would go the extra mile for anyone as long as it was positive and measures to improve yourself.
