''Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believeth thou this?'' John 11:25
Naomi Ruth Young Hale, daughter of the late Cosmo and Martha Young, was born on January 12, 1928 in Return, Virginia. Following a brief illness, she departed this life Monday, January 15, 2007, at Riverside Hospital in Tappahannock, Virginia.
She was educated in the Caroline County Public School system and graduated from Union High School in Bowling Green, Virginia. At an early age, Naomi accepted Christ as her personal savior and became a life long member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Supply, Virginia, where she served as youth Sunday School teacher, a missionary and church clerk for over thirty years. She was also a member of the Voices of Hope Choir, the Ushers Ministry, and taught primary students during Vacation Bible School.
Naomi was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Pride of Essex #179. When her health allowed, she was very active in helping others in the community.
She was joined in holy matrimony to Ryland E. Hale in 1959, and they had one son, Marvin Lee Hale. Their home was always open to others: especially during August revivals when many would eat and fellowship on their porch. Gainfully employed as a domestic worker in Northern Virginia for fifteen years, she was a person of great strength as she balanced work, home, and church. We are thankful to God for her service and for her presence in our lives.
Naomi leaves to cherish her loving memory, her husband, Ryland Hale and son Marvin Lee Hale of the home; one foster brother, Charles Jackson (''CD''), one sister-in-law, Susie West of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; one God daughter, Cassandra Scott; three devoted caretakers, Veronica Scott, Pam Byrd, and Robin Byrd of Supply, a devoted cousin, Carolyn Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
A precious one from us is gone,
A voice we love is still
A place is vacant in our home
Which can never be filled.
But always a beautiful memory
Of the one we loved so dearly
And there is comfort in the thought
That a loving God knows best
May God grant our loved one eternal rest.
Lovingly, The Family
