Myron Barkley Pollard(affectionately known as ''Manny'') was born on February 13,1952 in King George, Va. to Mary and Carl E. Pollard Sr. He confessed Christ at an early age at the Salem Baptist Church in Jersey, Va., where he was an original member of the Male Chorus. Myron continued in his walk of faith after moving to Alexandria, Va. where he joined the Oakland Baptist Church. There he served as Secretary of the Trustee Bd., a member of Male Chorus, participated in the Winter Birthday Club, and the Men's Fellowship. During his affiliation at Oakland, he met and married the former Mary Marie Hill. They were happily married for six and half years. Shortly thereafter, he continued his walk of faith at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. As a dedicated Christian, he counseled many of his coworkers and friends during the course of his life's journey.
Myron attended grade school and graduated from King George High School in 1970. He also attended the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, Alaska and Germanna Community College, Fredericksburg, Va.
Myron's work experience began at the Naval Surface Weapons Center, Dahlgren, VA at Yardcraft, where he won the hearts and respect of his supervisors and peers. Myron was last employed by Comprint Printing (Washington Post subsidiary) in Gaithersburg, MD as a Camera Supervisor. During his years of work, he received many certificates and distinguished awards.
After living a short, but joyous life, dedicated to church, family, and friends, Myron departed this life at the INOVA Alexandria Hospital on February 19, 2003, at the age of 51. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Mary Marie Pollard, Alexandria, VA; his father Carl E. Pollard, Sr. and stepmother Geraldine of Kensington, Md, his mother Mary P. Johnson and stepfather Ernest, Sr. of King George, six brothers (spouse): Thomas (Carolyn) Pollard, King George, VA; Tyrone (Rowena) Pollard, King George, VA; Carl E. (Phyllis) Pollard, Jr., Spotsylvania, VA; Michael (Barbara) Pollard, King George, VA; Ernest Johnson, Jr, and Miguel T. Johnson, King George, VA; two sisters Thomasine Johnson, Virginia Beach, VA; and Vinita Harris, Temple Hills, MD; Father-in-law Sam Hill and Mother-in-law the late Fannie Hill, Reform, AL. Sisters-in-law (spouse) include: Marilyn (James) Beale, Springfield, VA; Aldenette Wright, Reform AL; and Margaret Hill Reform, AL. Brothers-in-law (spouse) include: Sam (Annette) Hill, Jr., Demopolis, AL; Clarence Hill, Elmore, AL; Andre' Hill, Reform, AL; and Maurice (Burnette) Hill, Carrollton, AL. Myron enjoyed a special fondness for Rayford (Jackie) Nicholson, Reform, AL; Brandon and Triana Nicholson (Great nephew and niece); Virginia (Darryl) White, Northport, AL; and Marissa and Briana Beale, Springfield, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and other relatives and friends.
