A Time To Be Born

Melvin was born no November 29, 1921, in Shumansville, Virginia. He was the Son of the late Maude and Matthew Lee.

A Time To Learn and A Time To Serve

He received his education in Caroline County. He joined Mt. Tabor Church at an early age and remained an active member after relocating to Fredericksburg, and Alexandria, Virginia. Melvin served in U.S. Army during World War II and was honorably discharged.

A Time To Love

In 1950, Melvin was united in holy matrimony to Luester Wright from Caroline County. The couple had one child, Dollie. Soon after they established residency in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

A Time To Labor

Melvin was a retiree from RF&P Railroad in Alexandria, Virginia. He worked for the company for over 40 years. He fondly remembered his time throughout his retirement years.

A Time To Honor

He was devoted to his family, as well as to the Brotherhood of the Fredericksburg Masonic Lodge.

A Time To Worship

At an early age, Melvin was baptized at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church. While in Fredericksburg and finally in Alexandria, he maintained an affiliation with his home church.

A Time To Rest

On Thursday, August 16, 2012 God sent his angels to bring Melvin home. He was at the Crystal Garden Assistant Living Home in Springfield, Virginia; where he peacefully parted from his family.

A Time To Remember

Melvin leaves to cherish his memory; his devoted daughter, Dollie and his most precious granddaughter, Jenna; one sister, Louise Byrd of Maryland; a loving sister-in-law, Lola Lee of Triangle, Virginia, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
