Melissa Ann Adams

Melissa Ann Covington-Adams, affectionately known as “Lisa,” was born March 3, 1965 in Fredericksburg, VA. She was the beloved daughter of the late Frank Edward Covington Sr. and Mary Louise Dobbins-Covington.

On June 26, 2003, Melissa was joined in holy matrimony to David L. Adams. Melissa was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. She was a very gentle, unique and humble spirited person and to know her was to love her. If there was ever a laugh to be had or a Butterfinger to be shared, Melissa was in the midst.

Melissa was raised in Rappahannock Academy, Virginia and attended school in Caroline County. At an early age she accepted Christ, was baptized and became a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church of Port Royal, VA. She later went on to receive both; her GED from King William County School System and a degree in medical assistance from Rappahannock Community College. Melissa found pleasure in helping people through her employment at Food Lion for many years.

On January 14, 2020 after a life-long bout with sickle cell anemia, Melissa transitioned and went home to be with the Lord. Throughout her sickness, even when her health and strength waivered, her faith in God never did. Melissa trusted God and the plans He had for her life.

Melissa leaves to cherish her memory a loving and devoted husband, David L. Adams of Aylett, VA; her beloved daughters Kenya R. Covington and Takeia I. Logan both of York, PA; her six precious grandchildren, Jordin, Heaven, Janisa, Jaxon, Yzariah and Benjimen; her mother, Mary Lousie Dobbins-Covington of Fredericksburg, VA; her in-law, Dorothy Adams (Fred) of Sharon Hill, PA; her siblings, Susan Smith (Reuben) of Pompano Beach, FL, Tavette Morton of Sparta, VA, Edwina Covington of Fredericksburg, VA, Frank Covington, Jr. of Manassas, VA and Jeremy Covington (Angela) of Bowling Green, VA; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Blessed assurance, Jesus is Mine
O what a foretaste of glory divine
Heir of salvation, purchase of God
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood
