Maurice B Johnson

Maurice Johnson entered into eternal rest on June 24, 2016 at her home in Colonial Beach, VA. She was born on July 1, 1931 in Westmoreland County, VA to the late Randolph Johnson and Daisy Rich Johnson. Maurice received her education in Westmoreland County, VA.

At an early age, Maurice accepted Christ and joined the New Monrovia Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. George N. Carter. While there, she served as an usher, Sunday School teacher, and a member of the kitchen committee. She was also a devoted attendee of Bible Study. In 2010, Maurice began attending Little Zion Baptist Church regularly with her children until her passing.

She was employed in private family housekeeping in Washington, DC and was later employed at Wilkerson's Restaurant and Darl's Magic Wash in Colonial Beach, VA.

Maurice loved flowers, and enjoyed her puzzle books, landscaping her yard, cooking. Throughout the years, you could find her attending Relay for Life community events as well. Whenever you saw Maurice, she always had a smile on her face.

Maurice was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia D. Johnson; son, Roy. A Johnson; grandchildren, Brandon Hayes, Audrey L. Hicks, Jareka M. Shepherd; sister, Margaret Harris; brothers, Eric L. Johnson and Willard Johnson.

Maurice leaves to cherish her memories three daughters, June Edwards of Upper Marlboro, MD; Wendy Johnson of King George, VA; Lynn Johnson of Colonial Beach, VA; three sons, Gill Johnson (Charlene) and Randy Johnson (Pam) of King George, VA; Wayne Johnson (Phyllis) of Tallahassee, FL; three sisters, Carasile McDowney (Harry) and Bessie McDowney (Johnnie) of Colonial Beach, VA; Annette Brown (Robert) of Fort Washington, MD; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Johnson of King and Queen County, VA; one god-daughter, Cheryl Lee (Herman) of Montross, VA; 16 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
