Mary Watson Moore transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life on Tuesday, August 1, 2023. She was born May 6, 1943, to Daisy Mae Watson and the late Thomas Watson. She was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Watson.
At an early age she was baptized and became a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, Bowling Green, Virginia. She and her mother, Daisy enjoyed attending the annual homecoming services and spending time with church family and friends.
Mary graduated from Union High School, class of 1961. After graduation she moved to New York city briefly. After meeting and marrying her late husband, John O. Moore Jr. in 1965, she relocated to Maryland. To this union, one daughter, Michelle Moore was born.
Mary began her career with the federal government in 1965 and worked for 42 years at the Washington DC Superior Court, retiring in 2007. During her tenure, she developed a close bond with her co-workers. Many became more like family, and she enjoyed spending time with them, going out to dinner, and other outings.
Despite her sweet, kind, and meek demeanor, Mary was a fighter and battled many illnesses throughout the years, always remaining positive. She was a caretaker for her mother, Daisy, for many years and enjoyed spending time with her, daughter Michelle and her granddaughter, Iyana, who was the apple of her eye.
Mary leaves to continue her legacy of love, loving mother, Daisy Watson, devoted daughter, Michelle Moore; granddaughter, Iyana Moore; sister, Karen Smith; brother, Thomas Bush; Uncle, Rev. Arthur Washington (Gloria); sister-in-law, Hallie Woolfolk; brothers-in-law, Carroll Moore (Linda), Melvin Howard; devoted friend, Helen Boone Sizer (Sonny) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family, and friends.
