Mary Jane Shanklin

Mary Jane Shanklin daughter of Amanda Bundy and the late Robert Washington, Sr. was born on September 13, 1950 in King George, Virginia; departed this life on September 18, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.

Mary Jane attended the King George County Public Schools. On September 16, 1989 she married Winfield Shanklin, who preceded her in death.

She was an employee at Roses' in Fredericksburg, Virginia where she worked hard until her health began to fail.

Mary Jane leaves to cherish her memory; her mother Amanda Bundy; five children, Dese Howard (Elizabeth), William Howard (Linda), Tammy Conway (Mitchell), Amy Smith (Richard, Jr.), and a adopted son, Marcus Brown, three sisters, Ella Peyton (Emmett), Doris Scott (William); Sarah Beverly (Carroll), and six brothers, Frank Howell (Will), Robert Howard (Ethel), Wesley Washington, Robert Washington, Jr. (Etta), Dennis Washington, John Thomas, nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and one sister-in-law Elizabeth Whiting and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by one brother, Gordon Washington and one granddaughter Tierra Smith.
