Mary H. Baylor

Our Heavenly Father, in all of his infinite wisdom, called his child, Mary Hamilton Baylor, to have eternal rest with Him on Monday, July 2, 2012, in sweet peace from her residence in Woodford, Virginia.

Mary was born June 13, 1918, in Milford, Virginia, the second oldest of eight children born to Edgar and Jessie Waddington Murray. She was preceded in death by five sisters, Ruth, Georgia, Nannie, Verna, Minnie, one brother Edwin, her husband, Emrid C. Baylor, Sr., and a daughter, Mary Frances Baylor (Buttons).

Mary accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized at St. John Baptist Church, Milford Virginia, by the Reverend Chester A. Lindsey. She attended St. John until she was united in marriage. She attended Shiloh Baptist Church, Port Royal, Virginia until she and her husband built a home in Woodford. She then transferred her membership to Long Branch Baptist Church where she served faithfully until June 10, 2012. She was the "Church Mother" and a member of the Missionary Ministry. She loved and supported her Pastors and was a dedicated Sunday School Member. She was lovingly known as "Mom Baylor" to all and was known as the community baby sister and for making the best biscuits worldwide.

She was a quiet spirit with an infectious smile and the most incredible hug that was passed on to Minister Sonya Lewis.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her two daughters, Carlene (Jimmie) Randle and Dorothy (John) Wright of Woodford, Virginia; three sons, Emrid Jr. (Virginia Sancos), Donald (Gladys) of Fredericksburg, Virginia and James T. Baylor of Woodford, Virginia; six grandchildren, Daniel (Kimberly) Randle of Alexandria, Virginia, Paula Thompson of Richmond, Virginia, Melissa Foxx of Woodford, Virginia, Letitia (Kelvin) McCall of Spotsylvania, Virginia, Katina (Eric) Howard of Stafford, Virginia and Corrissa Lambert of Fredericksburg, Virginia; nine great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She has three exceptional loved ones, nephew Samuel Gresham, F. Gloria Williams and Evangelist Arlene Johnson.
