On October 26,2003, Mary Georgiana Johnson departed this life after a brief illness. She was a member of the Family Life Christian Center Church, Spotsylvania, Virginia under the leadership of Rev.Dr.James E. King.
Mrs. Johnson was born on February 18, 1926 in Washington, D. C. to the late Thomas and Beatrice Jefferson. She was married to Ernest L. Johnson of King George, Virginia. Mary began her education in the public schools of Washington, D. C. which was interrupted due to the death of her mother. She eventually relocated to King George, Virginia with her father.
Mrs. Johnson's work history began with Mt. Rose Canning Company where she worked for eighteen years before going to White Packing Company, King George, Virginia where she retired.
Mary was known for her persistence and determination to succeed. After being out of school many years and rearing her family, she attained one of her life long dreams, to finish her high school education. At age fifty one she completed all the requirements for the GED program and was awarded a certificate. Her greatest achievement in life however, was receiving Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at the golden age of 71 and became part of the Family Life Christian Center Family. She was preceded in death by one son, Myron B. Pollard.
Cherishing memories of Mary are her devoted husband, Ernest L. Johnson, one daughter, Thomasine Johnson of Hampton, Va.; six sons,
Thomas J. Pollard, Tyrone Pollard, Michael T. Pollard all of King George, Va.; Carl E. Pollard Jr. of Spotsylvania, Va.; Ernest Lee Johnson Jr., Miguel T. Johnson both of King George, Va., 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, one sister, Yvonne Bland of King George, Va.; two brothers, Roger Jefferson, Khabir Abdullah both of King George, Va.; Five daughters-in-law, Carolyn, Rowena, Barbara, all of King George, Va.; Phyllis of Spotsylvania, Va.; and Marie of Alexandria, Va.; four sisters-in-law, Annie Maude Epps, Mary Grimes both of King George, Va., Garnett Hackett of Montross, Va.; Annie Marie Berkley of Alexandria, Va.; three brothers-in-law, Willie Johnson, Robert Johnson both of King George, Va.; Edward Johnson of Williamsburg, Va.; a dear life long friend, Gloria (Tiny) Jett and a host of nieces, nephews and friends,
