Mary Ellen White

Sister Mary Ellen White was born April 29, 1939 to the late Alberta Harrison and Thomas Steward in Petersburg, Virginia. Mary was called home to be with the Lord on September 22, 2012 at Mary Washington Hospital. She received her education at Edgehill, Virginia.

She accepted Christ at an early age and joined St. Stephens Baptist Church, King George, Virginia. She exercised her love for God singing on the Gospel Chorus.

Mary retired from the D.C. Superior Court, Washington, D.C. as a Data Processor in 1986. She later drove the van for Rappahannock Area Agency on aging; she loved working with the Senior Citizens until her health began to decline.

Mary was joined in holy matrimony to the late Oliver White, Sr., in February 1954. From this union three children were born; Oliver Jr., Sharon and Roland.
She was a very devoted Mother, loving grandmother and caring great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, and listening to music. She was always on the go traveling, shopping, or just helping anybody who she could help that was in need.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Valerie Payton; brother, James Clatterbuck and sister, Anna Williams.

Mary leaves to cherish her memories, her children Oliver "Teeney" White, Jr. (Laverne), Sharon Greer, Roland "Squeekie" White (Mary); six grandchildren; Weldon Grant, Jr.; Michael (Mikey) Taylor; Tiffany White-Wade, Cheryl White, Rosalee McDowney, Oliver White, III; sixteen great-grandchildren; brother Andrew Williams (Alice), King George, Va.; two sisters Helen White, Ruther Glen, Va., Florence Matthews, Washington, DC.; brother-in-law, Harold White, Sr. (Marie), King George, Va.; A very special niece, Delphine White and nephew, Anthony Minter and a host of nieces, nephew, relatives and friends.
