Mary Boxley Rock, better known to family and friends as ''Jeff'' the youngest of five children, was born March 23, 1929 to the late Otis and Olive C. Boxley in Caroline County, Virginia. Jeff departed this earthly realm on October 11, 2007 and was reunited with the love of her life, Pitman C. Rock, Sr.
''Jeff'' was educated in Caroline County, Va and graduated from Union High School in Bowling Green, Va. She was united with Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of St. John Baptist Church until she passed away. ''Jeff'' was very passionate about St. John and eagerly supported the August Revival and Mission Drives within the Church. On June 7, 1947, ''Jeff'' was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Pitman C. Rock, Sr. This union was blessed with four children, Cynthia Maxine, Jacqueline Gwendolyn, Mary Veronica and Pitman Coleman, Jr.
''Jeff'' was a kind and loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and a friend to all who needed one. She was a faithful wife to the late Pitman C. Rock. ''Jeff'' may be best remembered for her jovial spirit and culinary skills. She was at her best when she was engaged in joyful conversation while preparing family meals. ''Jeff'' was employed for many years at the Hanover Shirt Factory where she established numerous life long friendships. She was a lifetime member of Welcome Chapter #129 Order of the Eastern Star. She was best remembered for her sense of humor and the ability to share her stories with friends and family. ''Jeff'' saved her best for her family. She was a dedicated and loving mother and made her life's ambition to be the best mother and wife she could be.
Three loving daughters, Mrs. Cynthia Maxine Williams of Ruther Glen, Va, Mrs. Jacqueline Smith of Richmond, Va and Mary V. Smith of Scottsdale, AZ, survive her. Jeff is also survived by a devoted son, Pitman C. Rock, Jr. of Fairfax Station, Va. She is further survived by six Grandchildren, Mrs. Latonia Wallace, A.J. Smith, Shawn Smith, Andre' and Eric Williams and Ashley Rock. Four Great Grandchildren, D'Andre Williams, Matthew Smith, Sydney Wallace and Emma Smith. Two sons-in-law, Al Smith of Scottsdale, AZ and Alexander Smith of Richmond, Va and one daughter-in-law, Dr. Regina Rock survive her. One son-in-law, Arthur L. Williams, Jr. preceded her in death. One sister, Mrs. Irma Goings of Washington, D.C. survives ''Jeff''. Two sisters, Mrs. Kate Brown, Mrs. Vivian Wilson and one brother, Lloyd L. Boxley, Sr. preceded her in death.
