Mary Anne Fitzhugh Lewis, 63, a native of Caroline County, Virginia died January 30, 2011 at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, Virginia.
Mary Anne was a graduate of Union High School in Bowling Green, Virginia. Upon graduation she began to work for the United States government ending up at Fort A.P. Hill where she worked as an Ammunition Supply Technician for 36 years until her retirement in 2007. Upon retiring, she worked as a Program Analyst for EDSI until the contract ended in 2009.
She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Woodford, Virginia, under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. Carl Bentley, where she faithfully served on the Women's Ministry, Choir, and Faith Ministry. Mary Anne was a God-fearing person who loved the Lord with all of her heart and soul. Not a day went by that she did not read her Bible several times a day before doing her favorite thing which was working in a "word find" book. She truly loved her family; especially her grandchildren and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, Richard Fitzhugh; mother, Rowena Milton Fitzhugh; and brother, Thomas Milton.
She leaves to cherish her memory two children, Herbert Warner Lewis, III (Rachel) of Bowling Green, Virginia; Ann Sherrie Lewis-Jones (Maurice) of High Point, North Carolina; one sister, Gladys Fitzhugh-Pemberton (Ronald) of Alexandria, Virginia; three grandchildren, Devin, Jaylen, and Lenox; a nephew, Ronald A. Pemberton, II (Kendra), a niece Melodi Nicole Pemberton (Gizmo); a great nephew, Tahir Pemberton; a great niece, Kiara Pemberton; an adopted sister, Frances Ball, cousins; Edith R. Fitzhugh, Willie Fitzhugh, Wilnette Fitzhugh, Tina Fitzhugh, David Tracey and Leon Tracey; a dear aunt Muriel Fitzhugh and a host of other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Women's Ministry or Choir at First Baptist Church, 9262 Guinea Station Road, Woodford, Virginia, 22580.
