Martha A. Frye

Martha A. Frye, the daughter of the late Virgil & Ida L.B. Frye was born June 14, 1925 in Caroline County. She departed this life at her residence on March 10, 2018. Martha was known as Aunt Big Time by her nephew Devonte Frye.

She received her education in the Caroline County Public School System. The government paid Martha $12.00 a month for outstanding work in school to help students in her grade. Martha continued her Christian education at Virginia Union University, Virginia State University and University of Virginia.

She was president of the Mattaponi Baptist Association of Virginia for 13 years. Martha taught in the Spotsylvania County Public School System for 34 years. The Spotsylvania Black Civic League was very special to her.

Martha accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Shiloh Baptist Church in Bowling Green, Virginia. She worked diligently as a deaconess and several ministries until her health began to fail.

Martha loved her family and worked hard to educate and support them in every way of life. Martha also did all she could for others in any way because she loved people.

She leaves to cherish her memories, brothers: Aaron Frye, Raleigh Frye (Evelyn); Sister, Alberta Frye and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
