Margaret P. Johnson

Margaret P. Johnson entered into eternal rest and peace at Sentara Hospital – Woodbridge, VA on Monday, May 20th, 2019 surrounded by many of her loved ones. She was born in Owens, VA on August 7, 1934 to the late Charles H. Pryor and Queen Esther (Dunlop) Pryor. Married 64 years to the late Theodore Roosevelt Johnson, Jr., this union brought four children - Sharon Allen (Stanley), Theo “Ricky” Johnson, Wanda Doney (Willie) , Derrick Johnson (Cynthia) and “adopted daughter” Leola McDowney (Charles).

Margaret (affectionately known as “Honey”) was a “unique” and “exceptional” woman. Her sassy demeanor made her unforgettable. But ohhhh - Once you got to know her – you grew to love her.

She joined Little Ark Baptist church at an early age and had a vibrant relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She enjoyed studying her Bible and “tackling” her bible study lessons. She had a love for math – graduating from Ralphe Bunche High School in 1952, at the top of her class. Well into her fifties, she bravely completed college courses - calculus and trigonometry. She had 25 + years of federal service at Navy Surface Warfare Center – Dahlgren, VA. She loved family gatherings and spending time with her family. Honey was an outstanding cook. Many memories were made in her kitchen and cookouts on the back deck. She enjoyed basketball and was an avid bowler. She loved to crochet - making miniature baby blankets for the grandchildren.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her children, sister, Corean Hodge - King George, VA, 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She will sadly be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, many relatives and friends.
