Luther Johnson affectionately known as "Q" was born on December 1, 1923 in Caroline County Virginia to the late Melvin and Emily (Fortune) Johnson. He departed this life in God's Perfect Peace on Wednesday May 30, 2012 after a lengthy illness. He received his education through the Caroline County school system. At an early age he accepted Christ as his personal Savior at Ebenezer Baptist Church Supply Va.; "Q" served in the United States Navy from 1945 to 1946 and was Honorably Discharged as Stewards Mate First Class. He later met and married Bernice Ferguson and from this union were four children, Emily Rae, Luther Jr., Ruth, and Lloyd.
"Q" began his adult life residing and working on Pratt Farm. In 1971 he moved his family to King George Va, and began domestic work at King George Lumber Company for over 20 years. "Q" was a devoted family man and friend to all. Farming, gardening, and taking care of his family were his passions in life. He was extremely well known throughout Caroline and King George Counties for his gardening skills. His garden was by far "THE BEST GARDEN IN KING GEORGE COUNTY". "Q" was a laid back type of person. After retiring from work, you would often find him in one of two places; his garden or sitting under the tree.
He leaves to cherish his memory one brother James (Gene) Johnson, of Port Royal Va, and one sister Mary Brown of Fredericksburg Va, his children Luther (Renee)Johnson and Ruth Johnson of King George Va, and Lloyd (Adreka) Johnson of Fredericksburg Va.; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by four brother-in-laws James Brown of Fredericksburg Va, Johnny Ferguson and Bernard Anderson Sr. of Bowling Green Va, and Al Ferguson of Seattle Washington, and a host of neices, nephews, cousins, and two special friends Ernest Johnson Sr., and Dick Lumpkin. He was preceded in death by his wife Bernice Johnson, daughter Emily Rae Thomas, two sisters Estelle Johnson, and Martha Lee, and three brothers Jack Johnson, Tom Johnson, and Windfield Johnson.
