Lucy Mae Smith, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, November 9, 2008 at Prince George Hospital, Cheverly, Maryland.

Lucy was born August 9, 1928 to the late David and Lucy Wilson in Caroline County, Virginia.

She was educated in the Caroline County Public Schools and graduated from Union High School , Milford, Va.

Lucy later attended the Calvinade Beauty Academy in Washington, D.C. in 1962 and graduated as a Cosmetologist.

Lucy was joined in marriage to Clarence Smith on March 31, 1945. To this union four children were born.

Lucy worked thirty years in the U.S. Government for the Department of Labor. She retired in 1998 after thirty years of service.

Lucy was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Ann Hillsman, and four sisters, Ruth Monte, Rebecca Parker, Mary Lee Jackson and Irene Carter.

At 80 years of age, Lucy loved to walk. She would walk at least 2-3 miles every day.

Lucy leaves to cherish her memories, one daughter, Brenda Mae Evans and her husband Earl of Camden, New Jersey, two sons, Clarence Erskin Smith of Washington, D.C., and Donald Harris Smith and his wife Venetta of Fredericksburg, Virginia; one son-in-law, Eugene Hillsman of Atlanta, Ga; three sisters, Margaret Taylor and Katherine Conrad of Washington, D.C., and Inez Dawson(Willie)of Caroline County; one brother, William Wilson of Fredericksburg, Va.; two brothers-in-law, John Monte of Caroline County, Va and Joseph Brown, Jr., of Louisa, Va; sisters-in-law, Anniebell Bynum, Audrey Banks, and Lillie Banks of Caroline County, Va and Ruth Wiley of Washington, D.C.; one aunt, Margaret Anderson of Washington, D.C.; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
