Lucy B. Byrd departed this life on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Mary Washington Hospital, Fredericksburg, Virginia. She was born on October 25, 1936 to the late Estelle Johnson.
At an early age she accepted Christ at the Ebenezer Baptist Church. She was known for her big heart and witty personality. Her greatest joy was making everyone laugh or lending a hand to anyone that she could help. Her famous saying was, "I don't have much but I will give what I can".
She was preceded in death by her first husband Nathaniel Lee Jr. and granddaughter Madisyn Lee.
She leaves to cherish her fond memories: daughter, LaVerne Roane (Rickie); son, Nathaniel Lee III (Candice); six grandchildren, Ashley and Rekeda Roane, Ryan, Jordyn and Tyler Lee and Abigail McPhie; her aunt, Mary Brown and uncle, James Johnson.
She later married the late William Byrd and she leaves to mourn her in-laws, Charles (Alberta) Byrd, Everette "Ed" (Rose) Byrd, Thomas (Rosa) Byrd, Milton Byrd and Beatrice Berry (William) and a host of "special" nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She also leaves to mourn her Pastor Irving Woolfolk and First Lady Tina Woolfolk who were dear to her heart. Her telephone buddies: Minister Ada Lee, Francis Lee, Fannie Woolfolk, Vernell Holmes, Beverly Johnson and Doris Johnson, Kirby Beverly who was like a son, also her riding buddies: Anne Shade and Mary Garnett.
Psalm 94:19 - When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer.
