Lucille C. Wright

Lucille C. Wright daughter of the late Linwood Roye and Emma Sayles Roye was born on November 9, 1921 in Caroline County, Virginia. She was one of eight siblings born to this union, departed this life on Thursday, February 24, 2011 in Memphis, Tennessee.
She was a graduate of Union High School in Bowling Green, Virginia. She was joined in Holy matrimony to Lyman Wright in 1940 they made their home in Caroline where they raised their two daughters; Diane and Paula, they were very active in church and the community.

She accepted Christ at an early age and joined the First Mount Zion Baptist Church in Sparta, Virginia. Later after marrying Lyman she moved her membership to St. John�s Baptist Church in Milford, Virginia, where she served faithfully as a Sunday school teacher for over 50 years, a faithful member of the Nurse�s Unit, a member of Chancel Choir, and Co- Director of the youth choir. She was a retired bus driver from Caroline County Public School after 20 years of service.

After faithful service for many years she moved to Memphis to live with her daughter after her illness until the Lord called her home.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lyman and three sisters and two brothers. Truly her loving and caring spirit will be missed at St. John and in the community, diligent servant of God a job well done.

She leaves to cherish her memory her two daughters, Diane Lindsey (Frank) of Memphis, Tennessee, Paula Poole (Rev. Kevin) of Woodford, Virginia; four grandchildren, Anthony Nelson, Shawn Nelson, Joshua Lindsey, Shannon Lindsey; five great-grandchildren; one brother, William Roye (Margaret) of Ruther Glen, Virginia and two devoted friends, Gail Armstead of Woodford, Virginia and Julia Jackson of Ruther Glen, Virginia.
