Lorraine G. Ware

Daughter of the late Bennie and Rosa Gaines was born on Sunday, February 2, 1936 in Essex County, Virginia and entered into eternal rest on Sunday, February 5, 2023 in Essex County, Virginia.

Lorraine joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church while young and was a member of the Junior Choir as a teenager. She attended public schools in Essex and Caroline Counties, graduating from Union High School in 1954. She then went on to attend Virginia Union University.

In the 1960’s, while living in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Lorraine joined Mt. Carmel Baptist Church under watch-care with the Reverend Albert Campbell as Pastor.

During her time in the city, Lorraine worked as a Sewing Machine Operator in Norristown, Pennsylvania and as a Cashier for Park Lane Hosiery Company in West and Downtown Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

After moving from Pennsylvania back to Virginia to her hometown she loved, Lorraine served on the Adult Choir at Mt. Olive Baptist Church.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband Carroll B. Ware. She leaves to remember her, a truly loving and devoted son, Shawn, that never found time to say “No,” two grandsons, Decovin and Christian, sisters Clara and Cleopatra, brothers Trent (Helen) and Hugh (Emily), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, and one special friend Renelda Broadus.
