Lois Mae Roy

Lois Mae Roy, daughter of the late Helen Wheeler Ellis was born August 4, 1936 in Caroline County, Virginia. She departed this life into a peaceful sleep on October 15, 2002 at 4:05 a.m. at the Bowling Green Health Care Center after a long illness.

Lois attended Caroline County Public Schools. At an early age she accepted Christ and joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church, Supply, Virginia. She was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late James A. Roy, October 24, 1952. From this union seven children were born.

Lois worked as a waitress and cook at Aunt Jenny's Pancake House in Port Royal, Virginia. Later she obtained employment as a line worker at Southland Corporation until she became disabled.

Lois was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to all she came in contact with. She always greeted you with a smile. She took great pride in cooking and sharing special times with her family.

She leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, Ferman Roy, Richmond, Virginia; Guy Roy, Spotsylvania, Virginia; five daughters, Myrtle Sims, Spotsylvania, Virginia; Janice Cook, Ruther Glen, Virginia; Tracy Smith, Ruther Glen, Virginia; Brenda Moore, Bowling Green, Virginia; Francine Beverly, Bowling Green, Virginia; eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ernest Ellis, King George, Virginia; Marice Woods, Ruther Glen, Virginia; Antonio Jones, Ruther Glen, Virginia; five sisters, Pauline Lomax, Ruther Glen, Virginia; Roberta Cook, Spotsylvania, Virginia; Joanne Lewis, Spotsylvania, Virginia; Jean Wheeler, Bowling Green, Virginia; Gwendolyn Foster, Richmond, Virginia; one brother-in-law, Russell Lewis; three sister-in-laws, Marie Sayles, Anna Ellis, Deloris Ellis; four son-in-laws, John Sims, Rory Smith, John Moore, Jessie Beverly; one devoted aunt, Hilda Rather, Baltimore, Maryland.
