''To Everything There is A Season, A Time for Every Purpose Under Heaven...Ecclesiastes 3:1
Linwood, affectionately known as “Pee Wee,” departed this life Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He was a 1975 graduate of Essex High School in Tappahannock, Virginia, where he began his career in Culinary Arts. He later completed several culinary courses, which only enhanced his natural ability to cook. His culinary skills contributed to his successful career as Head Chef at Sammy T’s restaurant in Fredericksburg.
Pee Wee took his cooking seriously and could plan, prepare, and present extraordinary meals that were often too attractive to eat. He has been known to prepare meals for groups in excess of 600, single handedly.
Pee Wee’s colorful and interesting personality and unique sense of humor invited conversation from all he met, even the most distant stranger, and he was the same all the time; friendly, uplifting, and helpful. Those who knew him well can remember his love for distinctive and fashionable hats and caps. He also enjoyed gardening, singing, and fishing, but “cookin” was the joy of his life. He was also known to create a fun-loving atmosphere through his sharp and witty comments, which often provoked laughter from his listeners. He loved life.
Linwood was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church from childhood and grew popular among his family and friends. He loved the Lord Jesus Christ, joined the choir, and was active in Sunday Church School, and a former member of the chorus group “The Messengers of Christ”, and the Usher Board. Though he moved from the Supply community, He returned to attend worship and Special Day Services whenever possible. He was known for his compassion for people, and constantly sought to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
His father, Linwood Jackson Sr., preceded him in death. Survivors include his loving mother, Irene C. Forman, King George, VA.; three sisters, Phyllis J. Pollard (Carl), Spotsylvania, VA., Lillian Jackson, King George, VA., and Gladys V. Sumter (Leon), Fredericksburg, VA.; four brothers, Frank Edward Covington (Gloria), Woodbridge, VA., James R. Jackson, Forestville, MD., and Wayne O. Jackson (Flora), and Donald Jackson, King George, VA., a favorite nephew, Quincy T. Jackson; a host of other nephews, nieces, cousins, and many other relatives and friends. Others include caregivers, Sebastian Davis and Carla Glasper, employer and dear friends, Mr. & Mrs. Samuel T. Emory and Family, and a devoted companion, his dog, Prince.
