Leroy Wheeler

Leroy was the son of the late Josephine Wheeler Sayles and Ralph Sayles. He was born December 29, 1936. Leroy departed this life on Friday, September 30, 2005 at the Health Care Nursing Home in Washington, D.C.

Leroy attended the Caroline County Public Schools.

Leroy was an active member of the U. S. Air Force until he had to retire because of his health. He worked as a printer in both Virginia and Pennsylvania.

Leroy joined Ebenezer Baptist Church in Supply, Va. at an early age.

Leroy was a happy person who loved his family dearly. There wasn't anything he wouldn't give or do if he could. He was greatly loved by his family and friends.

Leroy leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Jeanne Wheeler of Washington, D.C.; five children, Lenora Phipps, Leroy and Carlton Wheeler of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Vanessa Walker of Eulesa, Texas, and Quintina Wheeler of Woodford, Virginia; one brother, James Otis Wheeler; two sisters, Flossie Lewis and Evelyn Blaze; two cousins, raised as his sister and brother, Jean Wheeler and Jessie Wheeler; eight grandchildren, Jasmine, Van, Kyle, Asia, Michael, William and Quinton; one aunt, Hilda Rather; a devoted friend and caregiver, Ann Truman; three son-in-laws, Felix Walker, William Carroll, and Leon Phipps; two brother-in-laws, Harold Blaze and Percy Lewis; three young men who were an important part of his life, Troy Deane, Darnell Shaw, and Antoine Prince; six nieces; one nephew; three great nieces; one great nephew; and a host of cousins and friends.
