Leo Allen

Leo Allen was born in Dahlgren, King George County, Virginia on March 17, 1929, to the late Fred and Jeanette Johnson Allen. On January 30, 2011, Leo finished his earthly duties and quietly passed into eternal rest at home in White Plains, Maryland, with family members by his side.

At an early age Leo accepted Christ and became a member of Little Ark Baptist Church. He subsequently attended various churches throughout his lifetime remaining true to his faith. He enlisted in the United States Air Force at age 17, and made a career in the military. He retired on August 1, 1971 at Dover Air Force Base, Dover Delaware, after serving 24 years of active duty. While in the Air Force, he achieved the rank of Master Sergeant and has a career as Air Traffic Supervisor. Leo completed several tours of duty and went on various special missions to Korea, Azores, England, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, France, and Viet Nam. Throughout his military career, Leo received various medals and letters of commendation and appreciation for exceptional service. He went on after his retirement from the military to have a successful career as top selling salesman with Sears in Landover, Maryland, retiring after15+ years. After retiring from Sears, Leo went on to have a successful career selling real estate.

On August 23, 1952, Leo married Gladys Richards of Oak Grove, Westmoreland County, Virginia. This union was blessed with two dutiful and caring daughters, Stephanie Webster-Sesay and Michele Neverdon. Leo and Gladys subsequently divorced after 32 years of marriage. In his later years, Leo did volunteer service helping other veterans and tirelessly assisted with church services and activities at the chapel on Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland.

Preceding his death are two sisters: Clara and Naomi; four brothers: Harold, Leroy, Percy and James and one grandson, David William Neverdon II.

Leo leaves to cherish his memory his two daughters: Stephanie Webster-Sesay (Joseph) of Woodbridge, Virginia, and Michele Neverdon of Locust Grove, Virginia; his grandsons Jamal Webster (Tsukasa) United States Marine Corp, Okinawa, Japan and Jason Neverdon of Fredericksburg, Virginia; his granddaughter Niambi Sesay of Woodbridge, Virginia; his great-grandson Jermaine Webster of Okinawa, Japan; his sister Mary Robinson of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, his aunt Sarah Keys of Florida; his nephews: Clinton Allen of Marbury, Maryland, Wendell Allen of Dahlgren, Virginia, and James Allen of Randallstown, Maryland, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
